Where did your passion for pilates begin?
My passion for pilates began in the midst of covid times in 2022 when I was stuck in Perth waiting for the situation to ease before heading back to Indonesia. I first tried pilates at Bliss Pilates Studio in Perth, where I first encountered MoveActive Grip Socks and from that point on I never stopped doing pilates.
The longer I practised pilates the more I realised grip socks are essential to perform all the movements effectively and personally, I found MoveActive socks to have the best grips!
Why did you start Dee Pilates Shop?
After moving back to Indonesia, I noticed there were no stockists or physical studios to shop MoveActive Grip Socks. As a result, I decided to begin Dee Pilates Shop, selling MoveActive within Indonesia and supplying local studios.
Do you practice pilates often?
I usually practice Pilates twice a week, but now that I am currently pregnant, I’m taking a temporary hiatus from Pilates. In addition to pilates, I also like doing high intensity full body workouts at Platform Studio here in Jakarta. Platform Studio uses megaformer machines that make the classes more challenging than the typical pilates class, making the exercise a mix of cardio, strength and toning exercises. And yes, these exercises also require the use of grip socks, so we supply Platform Studio with our MoveActive grip socks!
What was the initial reaction to your launch of Dee Pilates Shop in Indonesia?
I was amazed with the very positive reception and support from the beginning. Starting with family and friends purchasing, then partnering with pilates studios in Jakarta to conveniently supplying them with MoveActive Grip Socks.
What are your most popular styles of MoveActive Grip Socks?
Crew is the most popular style, although there is a steady demand for other styles as well! There is a mix of demographics, some areas such as South Jakarta prefers more modern plain styles, whereas areas outside South Jakarta and Jakarta itself prefer more colourful patterns. To date, the Love Me pattern has been our best seller. The monochrome stripes comes in a close second.
Do you think the interest in Pilates is growing within Indonesia?
Very much. Pilates is really taking off here in Indonesia. Pilates studios are popping up left and right, and people in Indonesia are starting to realise the benefits of Pilates. Awareness towards Pilates is also now very high, not only in women but also in men. There is currently a trend towards healthier lifestyles in Indonesia, and Pilates fits right in this trend.
